8 Oct 2009 - VISION 2020 UK Celebrates World Sight Day 2009 by Producing a Poetry Patched Booklet entitled "A Patch in Time"

In 2008, VISION 2020 UK launched its Poetry Patched Competition, which was aimed at children up to the age of 16. The Competition was separated in to two age group categories; for children aged 9 years and under and for those aged 10 to 16 years. The poems were judged by the author John Hegley, who announced the two winners at the Children’s Low Vision Conference, which was held in May 2008.

The winner of the aged 9 years and under category was Honor MacPhie from Clarkston, Glasgow with her poem entitled “Patching” and the winner of the category for 10 to 16 year olds was Joanna Bagwell from Hampton Gay, Oxon and her poem was entitled “Designer Patch/Fashion Accessory”.

As the standard of all the poems was so high, VISION 2020 UK decided to celebrate World Sight Day 2009 by producing a booklet, which contains a selection of the children's poems, together with some fabulous pictures that the children very kindly supplied to accompany their poems.

This booklet will be available at low vision clinics very soon and is attached for your interest (in compressed format).
