> 10/10/11 | ADASS Position Statement on Visual Impairment Rehabilitation in the Context of Personalisation
The ADASS disability and sensory impairment network has updated its position statement on visual impairment rehabilitation to take account of the adult social care transformation care agenda. It states that rehabilitation for visually impaired people is a specific form of reablement and highlights that the increasing number of older people with sensory needs means that such rehabilitation services are likely to be in high demand. It reiterates previous advice that local authorities should consider securing specialist qualified rehabilitation and assessment provision and that contracts with the third sector for these services should be based on shared understanding and shared risk.
