You are invited to participate in the poster session for the Vision UK 2010 Conference which will take place at the ICC, Birmingham on 15 June 2010. The poster exhibit will be open for delegates to view throughout the duration of the conference.
Poster content
Poster submissions, based on implementation of the UK Vision Strategy, will be accepted under the four categories below:
Category A
Translating national strategy into local action
Report on the development of your local vision strategy/action plan, outlining key stages and specific enablers/barriers in the process. Key stages may include: engaging with local partners; understanding local needs; service mapping and gap analysis; linking with wider strategies/initiatives; and identifying local priorities.
Category B, C, D
Development and delivery towards UK Vision Strategy outcomes
Discuss specific national and local initiatives that support the outcomes of UK Vision Strategy. Research and evaluation studies are also welcome.
Topic areas may include:
B) Outcome 1: Improving the eye health of the people of the UK
- Prevention programmes
- Linking with wider public health strategies
- Professional education
- Identifying and addressing potential sight loss among children and young people
- Targeting at risk groups
C) Outcome 2: Eliminating avoidable sight loss and delivering excellent support for people with sight loss
- Understanding and addressing health inequalities
- Improving early intervention
- Timely access to treatment
- Emotional and practical support
- Improving independence and quality of life
D) Outcome 3: Inclusion, participation and independence for people with sight loss
- Education
- Employment
- Transition
- Financial capability
- Health, wellbeing and leisure
- Travel and mobility
Submission guidelines for abstract
All abstracts must be submitted by April 26th 2010.
Abstracts should be 300 words or less, including title, author(s) and affiliation(s). The abstract should be clearly numbered; provide a statement of the aims and objectives; a description of the main approach; key results and outcomes; and a discussion.

Important: Use a separate e-mail for each poster and include in subject line: “UK Vision Strategy 2010 Poster” and the surname of the author.
Notification of Acceptance
Abstracts will be reviewed and successful applicants will be notified by email no later than May 3 2010.
